Health and Safety

Safety is number one on our minds – period. We are responsible for the most precious thing in the world – children. To this end we aggressively seek to ensure the safety of our entire community, and therefore provide the following services:

• Wellness Center - staffed by qualified nurses and volunteer physicians. Waynesboro Hospital emergency room is less than ten minutes from camp.

• Mental Health Professionals – social workers and allied professionals ensure the good mental health of our campers and staff.

• Staff Security –all staff wear photo ID’s and background checks are performed before hiring. References are taken for every staff member new to our community.

• Facility Security - while we have never had a security issue, we are cognizant of the need to ensure the safety of our camp. Therefore we have gated entrance that is staffed during the summer weeks to ensure access is limited only to those with legitimate business. In addition, we have a close working relationship with local law enforcement and practice emergency drills to ensure preparedness in the unlikely event of an incident.

• Communications – senior staff are connected via a walkie-talkie system and emergency phones are located in multiple places on site.
